Game rules :
“Official 4-on-4 Tournament Rules”
- A 4-on-4 team can have a maximum of 6 players.
- Game time is forfeit time.
Game’s rules:
- All games will be played on a one-half basketball court utilizing (or improvising) the appropriate floor markings.
- Scoring: Three-point play will be in effect: the score will be counted as 2-3 as a normal full court game
- 2 points for every basket scored inside the 3-point line.
- 3 points for every basket scored outside the 3-point line.
- No free-throw
- Length of Game:
- Each game has
- 3 minutes warm-up,
- 2 halves of 8 minutes for each,
- 1 break of 2 minutes between 2 halves,
- Each team can call for 30-second time-out once per half
- No team may call a time out in the final 2 minutes of the game.
- Over-time: If the score is tied at the end of 2 official halves, play shall resume in 1 minute with 5-minute play. Coin flip will decide the possession of ball
- Stoppage of timing device: The timing devices shall be stopped whenever the official's whistle sounds indicating one of the following:
(1) A personal or technical foul.
(2) A jump ball.
(3) A floor violation.
(4) An unusual delay.
(5) A suspension-of-play for any other emergency (no substitutions are permitted.)
(6) A regular or 20-second timeout.
- Possession:
- The game's first possession will be determined by a coin flip.
- The ball must be checked by the referee beyond the 3 point line before each play begins.
- All jump balls will go to the defence.
- After a score the possession will be changed to the other team.
- If there is a foul or ball is deflected out of bounds , the possession will be for offended team.
- Free Substitutions: during dead ball and time-out situations.
- Fouls and Violations:
- Referees’ calls are final, no further disputes or arguments
- Fouls and violations will be called by referees in all brackets.
- Shooting Fouls: A Free Pass-In is awarded to the offensive team at the top of the foul circle.
- All other personal fouls will result in a Free Pass-In (top of the circle and checked by the referee) awarded to the offended team.
- If a player commits 4 fouls in a game, he will be fouled out.
- All other mechanical violations, such as traveling with the ball, double-dribble, up and down, charging, three seconds in lane, etc. may be called against the violating player. Penalty: loss of ball - a Free Pass-In (top of the circle and checked by the referee) is awarded to the opposing team.
- In the event of improper conduct by players or spectators: VNC Open and its referees reserve the right to
- stop the game for a period of time,
- have a player sit out for a period of time,
- eject a player for the rest of the game, and if need be, for the rest of the tournament,
- stop the game completely with one or both teams being thrown out of the tournament,
- call intentional foul, offended team receives one free throw attempt and possession of the ball,
- call flagrant foul, offended team receives one free throw and possession, or
- spectators may be asked to leave the premises for improper conduct.
Prize
Champion team will be awarded with trophy and cash prize of $50.
Runner up team will be award with cash prize of $25.
